The Alhambra and the Generalife

Granada is known as one of the most beautiful cities of the World and holds the most visited monument of the whole country.

Declared World Heritage Site, the complex of the Alhambra and the Generalife is the most emblematic, known and visited monument of Granada. City, fortress and Palace of the Kings of the Nazari Dynasty, their rooms and gardens are the best samples of Muslim art in Europe.

The Generalife was the summer and rest residence of the Nazari Kings. The first building of the Generalife dates from the 13th Century.

The monumental complex consists of the Citadel, the Palaces and the Gardens of the Generalife. Water is present in the main rooms of the monument, the famous Lion’s Patio, The Myrtles Patio, The Room of the Two Sisters, the Abencerrajes’ Room, etc. It also holds later constructions but integrated in the monumental complex, such as the Palace of Carlos V, of Renaissance style.

Each year, the Alhambra is visited by more than two millions visitors, which turns it into the most visited monument of Spain.
