The neighbourhood of the Sacromonte enables you to discover one of the most typical constructions of Granada, the caves. Nowadays, they’ve become flamenco clubs, restaurants, cave-houses and touristic accommodations.
Its first name was Valparaíso. In the 16th Century, relics and texts were found. The appearance of lead books caused the construction of the Abbey of the Monte Sagrado [Sacred Mountain] or Sacromonte.
In our neighbourhood you can find restaurants, supermarkets, dance and flamenco academies, bars, flamenco clubs and an ethnological museum, all of them located inside the earth, which constitutes an authentic “troglodyte” neighbourhood.
The Museum Caves of the Sacromonte is located in the named Barranco de los Negros, in the heart of the Sacromonte in front of the Alhambra.
This enclave holds an unbeatable natural beauty: the valley of Darro Valparaíso, meadows of the Sacromonte and the Generalife, the Nazari Wall, hill of the Aceituno [olive tree], fountain of the Avellano [hazel] and the neighbourhood of the Albayzín form the environments of the Sacromonte.
